Why Our Chinatown Partnership Matters to Me

Managing Partner, Postman Law
This past weekend, our team at Postman Law had the honor of participating in Chicago’s Chinatown Summer Fair. It was more than just a community event for us—it was personal.
I spent several years living and working in China. It was a formative time in my life. I met my wife there. We started our family with a shared appreciation of both American and Chinese culture. Today, Chinese is a language spoken daily in our home. We still travel back to visit family. Our Chinese identity is not just something we respect—it’s something we live.
When we looked at where to invest our outreach efforts, Chicago’s Chinatown made perfect sense. We know that Asian-American communities—especially first-generation immigrants—are often underrepresented in the legal system. Many have never worked with a lawyer before. Some are hesitant to bring claims, even when they’ve been seriously hurt. That hesitation is understandable. But it also means too many people go without the help they need and deserve.
At Postman Law, our mission is to make the legal process easier, faster, and more empowering for those who’ve been injured. And that mission doesn’t change based on someone’s background, language, or comfort with the legal system. If anything, it becomes even more important.
Despite some rain and extreme heat, the turnout at the fair was incredible. We had a line down the block for our prize wheel—our lavender “Sue Them” hats were especially popular. It was amazing to see them walking around the festival on so many heads. We met potential clients, connected with restaurant owners (special thanks to our booth neighbors at Triple Crown Restaurant), spoke with local community leaders and the neighborhood alderman, and, most importantly, we listened.
We’re grateful for the chance to be part of this event—and we’re just getting started. We look forward to building a practice centered around the Chinese communities in Chicago and beyond. And we’ll continue finding new ways to serve, support, and deliver justice.

Warren Postman
