What Your Drunk Driving Accident Claim May Be Worth
The value of your drunk driving accident case includes all physical, emotional, and financial losses you sustained as a result of the other party’s actions. We evaluate your economic damages based on documented financial losses and assess non-economic damages based on the impact the accident has had on your life.
Our Schaumburg personal injury lawyers will research your case, bring in experts, and thoroughly document your losses. Many of these cases include losses such as:
- Medical costs: Emergency medical care, ongoing rehab and support, hospitalization, medications, and future medical needs.
- Loss of wages: Compensation for time missed at work, as well as lost bonuses, overtime pay, and benefits.
- Loss of future earnings: Victims with long-term injuries may seek compensation for ongoing limitations in their ability to work, as well as for job retraining costs.
- Pain and suffering: You can seek compensation for all ways this incident impacts your well-being and quality of life, including the development of mental health complications.
- Property damage: Recovery of all losses associated with your damaged assets, including the cost to replace or repair your vehicle.
Trust our legal team to advocate for you and explore all current and future losses. Seeking fair compensation protects you from financial devastation later, often from unknown losses you may face in the months to come. Our team does not put your future at risk.

Drunk Driving Accidents Devastate Families in Illinois
It is not uncommon to learn about a driver crashing along the Dan Ryan Expressway or a car wreck on I-90 caused by an impaired driver.
Data shared by the Illinois Secretary of State’s Illinois DUI Factbook 2025 indicates 288 people died in an alcohol-related crash in 2024. This accounts for about 23% of all 1245 crash fatalities in the state.
In addition, the Secretary of State’s office states that there were 21,245 DUI arrests that year alone. Many people who suffer a drunk driving accident struggle with physical limitations for years to come. That can include catastrophic losses such as amputations, loss of vision, and paralysis.
What makes these cases even more challenging is the emotional toll it takes on a family and the ongoing financial implications. While a drunk driver may lose their driving privileges and go to jail, that does nothing to help the victim recover.
At Postman Law, we believe you deserve fair recovery of any damages allowable. Our Schaumburg drunk driving accident attorney can build a strong claim for you, seeking action against any party responsible for your injuries. We do this without charging you anything out of your pocket. We only get paid when you win your case.

How We Build Your Drunk Driving Accident Case
Law enforcement handles the criminal component of this incident. Our team will remain by your side as we fight for fair compensation. We will provide you with a free consultation to review your case and explain your rights. From there, we will:
- Investigate: We will gather evidence from the accident scene, police reports, and surveillance and dash-cam footage to determine what caused the accident.
- Determine fault: The driver may be at fault, but other parties may also be responsible. For example, under the Dram Shop Act, licensed alcohol vendors could be accountable for losses by drunk drivers if they knowingly sold alcohol to someone who was visibly intoxicated.
- Seek compensation from all sources: The at-fault party’s liability insurance is the first step in seeking compensation. We may also pursue claims against any third parties involved, such as a vendor or employer who contributed. Sometimes we must seek claims against your uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage.
Our attorney will then negotiate a fair claim against those responsible. We do not stop at the simple figure the insurance company suggests.
Instead, we pursue comprehensive compensation for all your losses and ensure the insurance company takes you seriously. If they do not, expect our team to go to court to protect your rights.

Act Within the Statute of Limitations in Illinois
In Illinois, victims of drunk driving accidents have two years (735 ILCS 5/13-202) from the date of their injury to pursue a claim against those at fault.
A few exceptions to this rule apply. The sooner you speak with our legal team, the sooner we can work to preserve critical evidence and build a strong case and claim for you.
